LOVE HURTS? STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

This is the Domestic Violence web page for the Safer Neighbourhoods Partnership. Here you will find information about Domestic Violence, facts and details of agencies that you can contact for help, support and advice.

Nationally 1 in 4 women will suffer Domestic Violence at some stage in their lives. Women experience Domestic Violence regardless of their social group, class, age, race disability or sexuality. Victims of Domestic Violence are usually women but this is not always the case. Men will also suffer Domestic Violence. The hidden victim is the child.

In North Lincolnshire in the last three years there have been more than 3000 domestic violence incidents dealt with by the Police. As awareness of the issue grows, greater understanding of the difficulties and challenges faced by the victims on a daily basis is being achieved through the delivery of awareness raising events, training and work in schools.

It is essential that domestic violence is reported. We must not accept a culture that accepts domestic violence. Violence and abuse of women and children is no more acceptable behind closed doors than it is in public.
